| As done with Windows as I can be |

Anyone who knows me and understands at least part of what I talk about knows that my favorite computer operating systems in order from most to least liked are Mac OSX, any flavor of Linux, and finally Windows. I say that because up until 2 days ago I was tied down to continuing to use Windows on my desktop computer. I am now the proud owner of a iMac and I must say that I love it, truly truly love it. I wasn't sure how I was going to like the tiny bluetooth wireless keyboard but considering it is exactly the same keyboard as my macbook I was already used to it and Apple touts that they can get up to 9 months on a set of batteries so I don't think it will gobble up batteries like my RF wireless keyboard. I'm sure I won't get 9 months out of them but hopefully at least 1/3 of that. I also wasn't sure how I'd feel about the Apple Magic Mouse but I instantly fell in love with it. It's sleek and small and the touch sensitive top is freaking awesome. I'm not a fan of the left/right swiping motion to go back on a web page but the up/down swiping to scroll up or down through pages is very very nice. The up/down swiping motion works wherever a scroll wheel would work so it controls the volume in VLC as well as other things I haven't discovered yet. Some people think that Apple only allows you to use one button because the old ones did but as more people switch from Windows to Mac they have included the right click as an option that's easy to enable. For instance, on my macbook I can right click by tapping with 2 fingers on the trackpad instead of just one and with the magic mouse I can click on the top right corner of the mouse to get a context menu, even though there is only one big button on the mouse (actually the entire top of the mouse is the button). One thing that I got very used to with Windows 7 is the snap windows feature especially since I copy files to and from my file server quite a bit. Because of my love of this feature I went on the hunt for a way to do the same thing on the Mac and found a great little program called Cinch. Unfortunately it's not free but it's only $7 and why shouldn't the developer get paid for creating something so useful? Now with that being said, at some point I will install Parallels and Windows inside of Parallels just in case I absolutely need to run any Windows software but It doesn't come up very often that I need to so I probably won't need it. To quote one of my favorite movies, "It's so choice. If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up." ~Jiggy~
