| Top 5 Reasons I Like My Droid Better Than iPhone |

I've seen alot of websites and blogs with information about why they think the iPhone is better than the Motorola Droid and Droid in general. I haven't seen a great many articles that go the other direction so I figured I would add my two cents to the interwebs. First off I should mention that I have never had an iPhone due to the lack of AT&T coverage in the great state of Montana. This does not in any way upset me because of all of the negative things I have read about AT&T. I have, however, owned 3 iPod Touches over the last few years and love them, absolutely love them. Other than the phone and GPS functionality of the iPhone I can't really see how there's much difference between the iTouch and the iPhone. I just wanted to add that as a disclaimer. With that being said, I love my Motorola Droid and below I will list some of the differences that I've noticed between the iTouch/iPhone and the Droid: 1: The fact that it runs more than one app at a time is a huge improvement over the iTouch's ability to only run one app at a time. Along with that is also the ability to long press on the Home button to switch between the currently running apps quickly. 2: Syncing my Gmail contacts between the Droid and Gmail is incredibly seamless. Considering that I have a Macbook and always used it for syncing my iTouch but didn't use Apple Mail for my email contacts any contacts in my iTouch were placed there manually. I know that it would have sync'd easily with my Mac but only when I plugged it in to sync. When I add a contact manually on the Droid it is automatically in my Gmail contacts and vice versa. This is pure awesomeness. 3: The notification panel is great for notification of new email, text messages, application updates, and even severe weather advisories. Plus when using Handcent for text messages you can not only set a custom ringtone for texts but also custom vibrations as well as the color of the LED. I love this feature. 4: I used the weather app on the iTouch just about every day and with it I had open the app to check the weather which was sparse at best since it only gave the day's high and low temp and basic overview of the current weather. With the weather.com app for Droid it shows the current weather on the home screen with the option to open the app to get detailed information on the current weather, hourly weather, 36 hour forecast, and 10 day forecast. In addition, as I mentioned before, it gives severe weather alerts as they are updated. This has proven itself to be a life saver, especially with our severe Montana weather. 5: One of the main points that a lot of people are making is the lack of applications for the Droid however, it's important to mention that the Droid and Android are still pretty new to the market. One thing that I believe will allow the Droid Marketplace to meet or exceed the iPhone App Store is the fact that the Android operating system is primarily open source unlike anything produced by Apple. The first thing that I noticed about the Droid Marketplace is that a great many of the especially good apps are free, my first impression of the iPhone App Store was entirely the opposite. I may, at some point, write about the things I don't love about Droid but who knows. I was recently reminded of this music video which is pretty funny and kind of fitting for this article.
